The Rien Poortvliet® Collection:
“Embrace the beauty of nature", one very appropriate quote that describes the life and work of Rien Poortvliet. Dutch artist Rien Poortvliet (1932-1995*) considered himself as a drawing storyteller. His drawings told the story, supplemented by a short caption at the most. He gave full rein to his love for nature wildlife and animals and his skill in depicting them in all their glory. Boars, hares, deer, foxes, otters, beavers, etc., he captured everything in a very realistic drawing or painting that immediately highlighted his eye for detail and the beauty of nature. The oeuvre of Poortvliet can absolutely be called extensive. He became internationally known to the general public with books like “He was one of us", “In my grandfather"„¢s house", “Dogs", “Horses" and “Secrets of the Gnomes". Although he passed away in 1995, his books remain classics, continuing to enchant both new readers and long-time enthusiasts. Rien Poortvliet"„¢s artwork has been published in many countries like France, Germany, Great Britain, Sweden, Finland, Italy, USA and many other countries.
